Visual and Performing Arts 


This pathway is for students interested in careers on stage and in graphic arts. Options for study include theater, music and computer aided drawing. Careers include acting, theater production, music performance, web design, and graphic design. Some options for theater and music require after-school rehearsals and performances.

Students decide on their emphasis of theater arts, music, or graphic arts.


Theater emphasis- Students are themselves the medium for their art. Students will be taught to work very hard to express themselves and to communicate in ways that are powerful, yet vulnerable.


Digital Media Arts emphasis- Design, Visual, and Media Arts includes those occupations that use visual art, digital media, and Web-based tools and materials as the primary means of communication and expression. Students learn current workplace practice, skills in visual art concepts, and skills in new and emerging digital processes to create and communicate complex concepts. Career possibilities include: Digital Animator, Artistic Director, Commercial Artist, Web Designer


Music emphasis- Students use voice and instruments to create musical art by performing, editing, and writing music. In this pathway, students commit themselves to learn several instruments, career basics of the music industry, the uses of music currently and throughout history, and music theory. Students in band are often requested to perform at school and community events outside of school hours.
